Located in the municipalities of Barranquitas and Aibonito, Cañón San Cristóbal is a natural protected area with one of the most significant geological phenomena in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. It was created as the result of a tectonic movement that caused the uplift of the earth's crust in this area. Its particular characteristics have led to the development of exceptional ecosystems and biological communities, making it home to hundreds of species of native flora and fauna.
