Perfect for shade and evergreen, the úcar (Terminalia buceras) is a fast-growing tree that usually reaches 30 to 60 feet in height. However, there have been those that reach up to 100 feet tall. The tree native to the West Indies and Central America maintains its greenness in humid places and loses its leaves in dry places. Its wide trunk is home to a very valuable wood used for the construction of ships, marine pylons, wheel hubs and posts. The ucar is a long-lived tree that exceeds 200 years of life.
